AP to permit adoption of HIV-affected children by foreigners

Andhra Pradesh Primary Education Minister N Rajya Lakshmi today said the state government was taking steps to permit foreigners to adopt HIV/AIDS affected children.
Talking to newspersons after visiting the state home for orphan children, Ms Rajya Lakshmi said that though the policy was to permit only Indians to adopt the affected children, the government had decided to permit foreigners as no Indian was coming forward to adopt them.
She said the government would take up the matter with the centre and ensure that the necessary permission was obtained.
